Cons:
battery internal (needs replacing at shop)
mono stero
one usb slot and no firewire.... wtf?
cost is almost same as MBP
has no optical drive
hard drive - sloooooooooooooow
Pro's:
umm..... it's very slim
for that much money you might as well get a mac book pro, your basically paying more for something which has less |

| Katz82 | Feb 14, 6:58pm | | I wonder if the Air is.. breakable? I dropped my mbp, yes, once I did, but it survived, nothing went wrong - which all happened in slow-mo. People will buy ANYTHING slick.. including the iPhone - the new paperweight. I'm just waiting for a newer version of the iPhone to come out.. iPhone Lite, maybe? |

| Sponsor | warby | Feb 14, 8:09pm | I haven't dropped my Air yet, so I can't tell you. I did drop my old 12" Powerbook G4 (dented a corner) and it went on to live a good long life of 5 years. It still works, although it's a bit sluggish and I'm using a Q-tip as a splint for the power cord.
The Air isn't cheap, but it is beautiful. It is also pretty fast, has an absolutely stunning display, and is extremely portable. Certainly not for everybody but those who like it, like it a lot. :-)
I'm already spoiled with using the two-finger trackpad tap to simulate a right click, and with the two-finger drag to scroll. For now, it's the only laptop with a multi-touch trackpad. |

| Swapler | Feb 15, 2:11am | mbp's slash pb's of the same model are INDESTRUCTABLe. I toss mine around a lot without thinking twice... although I shouldnt.
they should simply use them for armoured vehicles, they are very resilient. Not to mention the iphone. Its almost ridiculous how strong that little phone is, i wish i had one.
The new mbpros are going to blow the airs away in nearly every way.. no punning intended. |

| altfthirteen | Feb 15, 6:39am | 8# speck wise, the air is currently the most underpowered model in the mac range, even the mac mini is more powerful and almost a 1/3 of the price.
Although most people will counter react this argument with the small form factor of the air but the MB and MBP are pretty slim already and have more functionality then the air could have (oh and a lot more bang for buck)
In my opinion the Air was designed for on the go blogers, and could be seen as a second laptop in some cases just used for typing and web surfing at most...apple should have though along the lines of a ultra portable computer such as a eee pc to fill the void and do the the above functions>>>

a bit of hackintosh love:uneasysilence.com/archive/2007/11/12654/ [uneasysilence.com/archive/2007/11/12654/]
on indestructibility if the air has a SSD then yeah chuck it in the air for all i care (no pun intended) |
